Chick-fil-A, the largest and popular American fast-food restaurant chain, is now ready to use NFC technology. Chick-fil-A has introduced a dine-in mobile ordering feature in their stores that enable customers to order food by tapping over their smartphones. Customers enter their table number in the dine-in app to place the order.
This dine-in feature of Chick-fil-A eliminates the long queues of customers and places orders at the counter and then waiting for their turn. Dine-in mobile ordering functionality allows a customer to place their order quickly and receives hot meals at their table instantly.
Dine-in Mobile Ordering System
The working of Chick-fil-A One app only needs a mobile app with NFC technology. Customers first need to install the Chick-fil-A One app from the play store and create an account. Now, select the dine-in option from the drop-down list and add food items to your account. In the third step, customers check the number of empty tables by enrolling in the Chick-fil-A’s dining room and tap that number. Finally, the order and associated table number reach Chick-fil-A’s team. Once the customer placed the order via NFC-enabled smartphone, the Chick-fil-A store will prepare the meal and bring directly to the associated table number of customers.
The working principle of Chick-fil-A follows the NFC technology in which a number embedded on the table acts as an NFC tag energized and activated by an NFC-enabled phone. After the activation procedure, the NFC tag provides a URL encoded to that particular table and then the user’s mobile directly interacts with Chick-fil-A’s official webpage.
Advantages of NFC-tagged Tables
All the tables of Chick-fil-A integrated with NFC technology allows foodies to tap their phones against the table numbers. The smart app permits them to select their desired meal and add additional items too with just one click.
In contrast to other restaurants, Chick-fil-A knows how to bring ease, flexibility and high customer service at the table. This smart initiative is great for old-age customers and families who can’t stand in queue and lines for hours. Nevertheless, waiting in lines, placing an order at the counter and drive-thru also work side-by-side with this dine-in feature.
Chick-fil-A started NFC-enabled dine-in mobile feature in 2018 and received tremendous response since then. Chick-fil-A deployed this feature in only 80 stores from a total of 2,400 stores and gained an overwhelming comeback. Chick-fil-A also conducted a survey in which about 92% of customers gave positive feedback due to its simplicity and convenience at the in-stores.
Another useful characteristic of Chick-fil-A’s app is that it also offers rewards to those who place an order through their phones. By placing more and more orders via an application, customers earn points and receive benefits such as gifts, birthday surprises, food content, recipes and much more. At present, Chick-fil-A’s app provides three membership packages depending upon the amount spend or points acquired by customers;
- Chick-fil-A One Member ($1=10pts)
- Chick-fil-A Silver Member (received after earning 1,000 points in a year & $1=11pts)
- Chick-fil-A Red Member (received after earning 5,000 points in a year & $1=12pts)
In-conclusion
All in all, dine-in mobile ordering system permits the Chick-fil-A to stand out from its competitors such as Taco and Starbucks as it was the food restaurant chain who adopted NFC technology in this way.
